Laser Welding

Laser welding is a proven technology commonly found in high volume industries. Recent technological advancements in both software and hardware made laser welding a viable, and advantageous process for production parts in mid volume OEM’s. Enhancing production abilities in industrial and construction sectors.

Production Advantages:

Parts that were previously formed, manually welded, then ground, can now be cut as flat parts and laser welded with paint ready welds. No forming or grinding required.

The laser beam joins parts with no filler material at high processing speeds, generating a homogeneous joint. When reviewed at a microscopic level, it shows continuous metal consistency.

Since no filler material is required, operators can cycle through various materials such as; mild steel, aluminum or stainless steel with no setup in between.

Should joints with gaps ranging from 0.2mm to 1.0mm, a supplemental filler wire accompanies the process, reducing additional part preparation or re-design.

Laser Welding and Metal Fabrication Advantages

  • Repeatable tight tolerance assemblies can be produced
  • Minimal distortion of parts due to small heat affected zone
  • High processing speed
  • No change over or setup required between different material types
  • Parts can be welded with surface protective film in place
